Expert Group Meeting on Gender, Science and Technology

2010-EGM-UNESCO-gender-scieOctober 2010 – The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Gender, Science and Technology (28 Sep – 1 Oct 2010), co-organized by the UN Division for the Advancement of Women and UNESCO, explored the gender dimensions of science and technology in preparation for the Commission on the Status of Women in 2011. It examined strategies for increasing women’s access to and use of technology, access to and participation in science and technology education and training, and participation in science and technology employment. Among the recommendations was the need for universal access to Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) education for women and girls throughout their lifetimes. GWI was represented by Professor Cornelia Boldyreff and Françoise Sauvage.
